Who are Juniors and Young Riders?
For ECRDA, riders are considered Junior Young
Riders (JR/YRs) until the end of the competition season in which they
reach 21. For USEF, individuals are eligible as Juniors until the end
of the competition season in which they reach the age of 18. Individuals
are eligible as Young Riders from the beginning of the calendar year in
which they reach the age of 16 until the end of the competition season
in which they reach 21.
At this time ECRDA treats these two age groups as one
category for both schooling shows and year-end awards.
Since we have a large number of JR/YRs in our membership, show organizers
are strongly encouraged to divide all classes so that JR/YRs are not competing
against adults.
Who are Adults?
All riders over the age of 21 are considered adults,
unless over 50 and specified as "Masters."
Who are Masters Riders?
Riders over 50 may elect to join as Masters
Members. Masters riders are included with senior riders for Year End Awards. In addition, in all divisions with at least one Masters rider, a Champion ribbon will be awarded to the Masters rider with the highest median among all Masters riders in that division.
