It’s September and while students are planning the beginning of another school year, equestrians are finalizing plans for year end awards and championship shows. Happy riding. See you all real soon.
Our thanks to everyone who participated in the August 24 show to benefit the various ECRDA award programs. This was our largest show ever! We all had a great time while raising funds to help honor our hard-working membership. To our judge, Mary Harrison, thanks for being part of our successful day. We had a great support team of volunteers helping out behind the scenes. Special thanks to Show Secretary Pam Turner, scribes Leslie Savage and Nicole Rettino, and volunteers Sara Bagala, Iris Furlong, Ashley Rickabaugh, George Rickabaugh, and Jan Kalafat. Also, thanks to Shelley Holbrook and Sharon Lutgen for preparing the show grounds. The ECRDA Board is looking forward to running more benefit schooling shows next year. Join us then to support a great cause.
Are you currently competing an off-the-track Thoroughbred? Would you like your horse's accomplishments recognized? Then apply for the Hell's Angel Thoroughbred Rescue Award! This award is being offered for the sixth year, and will be awarded at the 2008 ECRDA year end banquet. Please feel free to contact me with any questions at lrasmuson@comcast.net. I look forward to receiving your applications and meeting you at the awards banquet.
ECRDA gives out Year End High Score Awards in all levels from Lead Line to FEI and musical freestyles. Each level is divided JR/SR and for those who have shown above Second Level. Riders who are ineligible for a high score award but attain at least one score above 60% will be awarded a 60% rosette. As our active riding membership continues to grow, the job of verifying scores for year end awards and medals also continues to grow. Year End Rankings (medians) and 60% ribbon qualifiers will be posted in the November newsletter and on the web site around November 5. Riders will have two weeks to verify their scores and contact the Year End Awards Chairperson for any needed corrections. After two weeks, all scores and medians are final.
ECRDA Dressage Medals are designed to recognize an achievement of consistent 60% scoring. Scores need not be earned in one year or on one horse. You must be a member at the time of showing. Scores may be earned only at ECRDA sanctioned shows, including the Championship Show. Bronze Medal: Awarded to a rider who has achieved 6 scores of 60% or above at Open Training Level, two of which must be at Training Level Test 4. They must be from at least 4 different judges at 4 different shows. Silver Medal: Awarded to a rider who has achieved 6 scores of 60% or above at First and Second Levels. These must be 2 scores from any First Level Test and 1 from First Level Test 4; 2 scores must be from any Second Level Test and 1 from Second Level Test 4. They must be from at least 4 different judges at 4 different shows. Gold Medal: Awarded to a rider who has achieved 6 scores of 60% or above at Third and Fourth Level. These must be 2 scores from any Third Level test and 1 from Third Level Test 3; 2 scores must be from any Fourth Level Test and 1 from Fourth Level Test 3. They must be from at least 4 different judges at 4 different shows. The ECRDA Dressage Medal Application is found in the rule book on the ECRDA web site, www.ecrda.com. Click on “rule book”, then No. 7 “Dressage Medal Application.” I’m happy to see that several of you will qualify this year. To confirm your qualifications, please send me the ECRDA Dressage Medal application. You do not need to send copies of your tests. Mail by November 5 to Pam Turner, 5 Stanley Place, Jackson, NJ 08527.
Some minor changes from last year.
